Town Cemetery Board

CALL TO ORDER
Chairman Kevin Reich called the meeting to order at 9:23 a.m.
Present: Chairman Kevin M. Reich and member Russell F. Oakes, Sr. Also in attendance were Sexton Robert G. Drewry and Secretary Cathy Sirois.
Not present: Arthur Jacobson
APPROVAL OF MINUTES – DECEMBER 6, 2006
A motion was made by Mr. Oakes, seconded by Mr. Reich to approve the minutes of the December 6, 2006 meeting. Voted (2-0).
UPDATE ON CEMETERIES
Sexton Drewry reported that five people have been buried since the last meeting. There are approximately 40 plots remaining. There was discussion regarding x-raying the gravesites to determine if there were empty plots available. Mr. Oakes reported that he has spoken to the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts for a spring cleanup.
FEES
The fee for plots in the town cemeteries is $500. There was discussion regarding the fees going into the General Fund.
FLAG POLE UPDATE
The Shulman family donated a flag pole. Mr. Oakes will contact Mr. Bernard, who may donate the final flag pole that is needed.
2008-2009 BUDGET
Lines items for the budget should include a fall 2008 and spring 2009 cleanup, clearing brush at Hog Hill cemetery and wall repairs at Selden cemetery. Chairman Reich will meet with Jeff Jylkka regarding a budget code.
FUTURE PROJECTS
Future projects should include land acquisition and/or possible x-raying and repairs to the walls and gates.
BOARD VACANCIES
Nikki O’Neill was recommended as the fourth member of the Cemetery Board. Mr. Drewry will speak with her.

ADJOURNMENT
A motion was made by Mr. Oakes, seconded by Chairman Reich, to adjourn the meeting at 10:02 a.m. Voted (2–0).
